Best Ohio Hilton Head Plantation for biking

This post is to guide Ohioans new to Hilton Head on what to do, where to stay and overall tips about the island. Every year thousands travelers from Ohio make the 12 to 14 hour trip to Hilton Head and if they do it right they never want to leave. My blog will help you learn some of the best points of the island from an Ohio guide.

One of the most enjoyable activities on Hilton Head Island is biking. Wherever you stay you will find an abundance of trails. We have stayed at most of the plantations on the island (stay tuned for the blog on different plantations) and by far the best for biking is Sea Pines. Sea Pines is at the toe of the island and can be entered through two gates. Those not staying at this plantation can enter for a fee. There are two attractions in this plantation, South Beach Marina and Harbourtown. Where ever you stay inside of Sea Pines you are usually close to one of the two. Smack in the middle of the plantation is a small shopping area in case if you need to stop. When we went down with little kids we loved to stop at the Sea Pines Center for a bagel. Now that we are older Truffles is our favorite stop! If you need to rent bikes - planning ahead can help. We have found the best deals outside of the plantations and they all deliver. By calling ahead and reserving the bikes for a week I have gotten as much as 50% off. When calling around most bike shops will offer specials, but if you go directly to the place and it is inside the plantation they won't deal on pricing.

So...if you like to bike, call ahead, rent outside of the plantation, and stay in Sea Pines!
